THE LAPS OF DELILAH
I wrote a piece titled WHO DESERVES TO BE BLESSED and so many people were indeed blessed by that piece. But I noticed a disturbing reaction which I believe this message will address. Some people saw that piece as a license for sinners to go haywire and still feel they deserve to be blessed. That is CERTAINLY NOT the message the article preached. The scripture tells us that we should not continue in sin that grace may abound. (Romans 6:1) God does not support sin though he loves the sinner.
My focus in that piece was on those who HAD SINNED IN THE PAST, obtained mercy at the feet of Jesus and people still felt they did not deserve to be blessed. Look again at some of the words I used in that piece.
So a lady who had SLEPT with married men does not deserve to be a wife….
A lady who had COMMITTED several abortions does not deserve to have a child….
A man who had DEFRAUDED so many people does not deserve a thriving business…
You will notice that the verbs are in the past tense SLEPT..COMMITTED..DEFRAUDED. The sins were done in the past. The people involved have been forgiven and deserve to be blessed. Those who are COMMITTING sin (Note the use of the continuous tense) should realise that there is a day of reckoning.
Remember the instructive story from the Bible of a man who loved a woman that had been commissioned to destroy him. She kept asking him for the secret of his great strength so she could report to his enemies. Each time, he kept dribbling her and did not tell her the truth. But it is amazing that when she told his enemies the half truths and they came to arrest him, he still put his head back on her laps after he defeated them.
Did it not occur to him that it was time to flee? Why was he dining with his death? Didn’t he know that as a Nazarene, he was not supposed to associate with heathen people?
Each time he stood up and went back home, God’s protective covering was still around him because he was a special child.
Then a different day arrived.
When the man stood up as he usually did, from the laps of the evil woman who was determined to destroyed him. When Samson stood up from the laps of Delilah and said:
‘I will go out as before, at other times, and shake myself free!’
But he did not know that the LORD had departed from him.
THE DAY OF RECKONING had come!
He had toyed with sin enough and had to face the consequences. The same applies to those who want to take the Grace of God for granted. Those who keep doing bad things, saying sorry and thinking that they can keep getting away with their crimes.
There is a time when the law must take its course.
When those who want to toe the path of Evans and become wealthy kidnappers get caught.
When those who cut human heads to obtain ill-gotten wealth are exposed.
When the operators of baby factories meet their waterloo.
When the human traffickers who capitalise on desperate people’s needs to condemn them to a life of slavery are unmasked.
When those who are ‘playing games’ with their Christian life are revealed for the whole world to see.
When people engaging in any form of criminal activity are brought to book.
If you are still sleeping on the LAPS OF DELILAH, it is time to STAND UP FOR JESUS.
You cannot sleep on the laps of Delilah and wake up in the BOSOM OF ABRAHAM.
