I DON’T CROSS BRIDGES
I was discussing with some ladies and heard a very interesting piece of news which I share today.
I heard that there is a new breed of business moguls who cater to clients that live ONLY ON THE ISLAND in Lagos. On the Island means places like Victoria Island, Ikoyi and Lekki. If a client comes from LAGOS MAINLAND, they will say with so much disgust on their faces, ‘I don’t cross bridges!’
Interesting!
So the world now revolves around the three places I have mentioned. Those who live outside those areas do not hold ‘pepper’(the slang for money) and do not deserve to be served.
How limiting!
As for me, I am ready to CROSS BRIDGES. I will go anywhere that my services are needed and I can incorporate into my schedule. I will not restrict myself because I want to BELONG! People travel outside Lagos to take up business opportunities. Crossing bridges? You can do more than that!
There is a programme that holds in the church I attend. It is for parents and Sunday school teachers. There, issues that concern the wellbeing of parents and proper upbringing of children are discussed. At one of those programmes, a lady wrote a question on a piece of paper. She stated her current dilemma. Her husband lost his job and she was ‘worried’ about how to tell her children that they could not travel abroad for summer.
The woman who read the question was exasperated and screamed,
‘How did we get here?’
Why do people pierce themselves with so many sorrows that no one gave to them? You see people drive cars they cannot maintain just to keep up with the Jonses.
Many people groan under the burden of exorbitant school fees, first class plane tickets and house rent because they want to rub shoulders with the high and mighty.
You see people who will sacrifice their feeding allowances to buy beautiful clothes and other material things to ‘oppress’ people. They say they want to ‘slay’ with their looks but end up being ‘slayed.’
Like Bishop Oyedepo said, ’If you try to impress people, you will become depressed.
I have been there. I had to let go of an investment that was ‘choking’ me.
Still talking about CROSSING BRIDGES, I hear there is a bridge that many people do anything to cross. It is the architectural masterpiece called Ikoyi Bridge in Lagos. On Saturdays, you see people jogging along the bridge. Guys go there to ‘jog their way’ into ladies’ hearts. I hear that many young ladies in full make-up jog along the bridge. Even ‘babes’ come from Lagos Mainland all the way to Ikoyi just to jog. Ladies that are as ‘fat’ as I am who have no business losing weight lest they disappear, join the jogging train.
Why?
It is a NETWORK CENTRE. There, they hope to meet those they call the MOVERS AND SHAKERS and make connections that will lead them to a glorious destiny.
I am speechless!
But!
On a lighter note.
Maybe this Saturday, I should join the jogging train on Ikoyi Bridge. I just may meet my IYA ALASHE (Helper of Destiny).
Anyone care to join me?
