IT’S TIME TO KEEP THE CHANGE
I read about it and decided as usual to put my pen to work.
A very interesting incident happened in Ibadan a few days ago. A guy invited a lady out on a date. After their meeting, he asked for a relationship and she refused. The guy came on Twitter and called her a BROKE ASS HUNGRY BITCH. The lady read the tweet and SWUNG INTO ACTION.
She calculated the total amount the guy spent on her, which was N3800, sent N5000 to his Wema Bank account and posted the credit alert details on Twitter with the inspiring pay off line, ‘You can keep the change.’
The Social Media space caught fire.
The slogan, YOU CAN KEEP THE CHANGE has now replaced others like ‘Oga at the Top’ and ‘The Other Room.’
Wema Bank created a new advert: Every kobo matters to us, just as it is to 5kBae. At Wema Bank, we keep your change.
First Bank offered to give the lady N5000.
A furniture company told the lady to pick a piece of furniture anytime she visits Abuja.
A nail boutique offered free services to the lady for being an empowered woman.
Wikipedia updated their definition of the place Ibadan to include the historic incident.
Wow!
Who would have thought that a simple action like that would attract such a windfall of gifts and appreciative gestures?
Just because a woman decided to preserve her dignity.
I was amused by the action of the guy in question. What was he expecting? That she lick his legs because he did her a favour by taking her out on a date? Maybe he expected her to grace his bed afterwards. Who would blame him? Some women actually debase womanhood this way!
In my piece, CREATING PROSTITUTES, I advised men to stop ‘breeding’ cheap girls.
In this piece, I address the women, hiding under the umbrella of the Ibadan incident.
Woman, it is time to tell that man to KEEP THE CHANGE.
I once had a most annoying encounter with a former colleague. I was looking for a house and he told me he could take me to his aunt who wanted to rent her boysquarters. I innocently followed him. Of course we left from the office and many of our colleagues saw us so I felt a bit safe. On our way back from his aunt’s house, he stopped over at a hotel and told me he wanted to drop a message. He asked me to come with him and sit at the reception. I did and he went to the reception desk to discuss with the lady there. Then he came to tell me that he had booked a room for us to enjoy ourselves. I could not believe what I was hearing. Just like that? All the hair on my head stood apart! I should strip myself of my dignity at the drop of a hat? I told him that I did not know what kind of women he had been dealing with in the past but he was seeing a new generation which I represented.
I walked out on him and told him to KEEP THE CHANGE.
This is not SUPERSTORY. It happened to me!
My aunt told me of how a man proposed to a woman and when she asked to pray about it, he looked at her disdainfully and said, ‘Pray about what? Are you not happy that someone proposed to you? Have you not looked at yourself in the mirror?’
Imagine that!
Woman, your time starts now!
When a man thinks he is doing you a favour by dating you, tell him to KEEP THE CHANGE.
When a man wants you to have sex with him before he marries you, tell him to KEEP THE CHANGE.
When a man wants you to propose to him, tell him to KEEP THE CHANGE.
Stop throwing yourself at men because you are desperate for love. Men are hunters. A hunter prefers to hunt for a rabbit in the bush. He will run away from the one that SUDDENLY JUMPS INTO HIS HUNTING BAG!
A dignified woman is an attractive woman anytime, any day. See all the benefits that came the way of the 5K BABE!
Woman, tell that man who wants to strip you of the beauty of womanhood to KEEP THE CHANGE.
And you, BECOME THE CHANGE!
Remember that change begins with you.
Because you are not A WOMAN OF THE PEOPLE.
Do not become a cesspit for men to dump their lustful desires into.
For you do not belong to EVERYBODY.
You belong to JUST ONE MAN.
