The story of Joseph is quite intriguing and full of many lessons.

He was a young man envied by his brothers but a closer look at the story will show that there was no need for them to envy him.

Joseph told his brothers about his dreams and they began to plot his downfall. Let’s look at one scripture:

Then he dreamed still another dream and told it to his brothers, and said, ‘Look, I have dreamed another dream. And this time, the sun the moon and the ELEVEN STARS bowed down to me.
Genesis 37: 9 (Emphasis mine)

The brothers of Joseph were depicted as ELEVEN STARS. They were STARS in their own right!

There was no need for them to destroy Joseph’s star.

But they were so blinded by his own area of dominion that they failed to see that they had THEIR OWN AREAS OF DOMINION.

The book of Revelation places another seal on this dominion.

………and had a great and high wall with great gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of THE TWELVE TRIBES OF THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL.
Revelation 21:12(Emphasis mine)

Even in eternity, the names of Joseph and his brothers, NOT JOSEPH alone are written in gold!

There was no need for them to envy him!

I have been spinning like a kiddies top since Rev Sam Adeyemi preached this message.

He also told the story of a pilot who recognised him one day when he was aboard a flight.

The pilot greeted him RESPECTFULLY, told him he was a member of Daystar, the church he pastors and then added humorously, ‘You are my pastor sir. But on this plane, I am in charge and you have to answer to me.’

Quite true!

Dominion has MANY FACES.

We all have our areas of dominion. Places where we EXCEL WITHOUT STRUGGLE. But when we leave that area and step into another person’s area of dominion, we have to submit to that person’s authority.

Simple! No need for envy.

You may not be able to paint faces like Tara Durotoye,

Draw like Leonardo Da Vinci,

Teach like Reverend Sam Adeyemi,

Crack jokes like Alibaba,

Or write like ME!

But there is SOMETHING you can do VERY WELL.

Find it and HAVE DOMINION.

The Bible reads in Genesis 1:28:

Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; HAVE DOMINION over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’
