DO YOU HAVE OESOPHAGUS?

I heard a message this afternoon from a man of God I respect so much and just had to share it.
The pastor was speaking on success and used a very hilarious video to illustrate a point.
The video showed a lady interviewing some people on the streets. And she asked a “simple” question, “If your boyfriend has oesophagus, will you marry him?”
The people interviewed said they won’t. One person talked of how the “disease” is dangerous when it has reached an advanced stage.
It was a SHOW OF SHAME!
You ask me why? Let’s look at the meaning of Oesophagus.
Oesophagus according to the Longman’s dictionary means “the food tube leading from the mouth down into the stomach.”
It is not a disease please!
It’s not a crime to be ignorant of something. What is criminal is “pretending to know” and embarrassing the nation! When the pastor was telling the story in church, I asked the girl sitting next to me what oesophagus meant and she told me. She is much younger than I am but I was not ashamed to ask her. I can learn from anyone.
No matter how much knowledge you acquire, you will still find areas that you know nothing about. Please humble yourself and ask. Don’t try to act like you know it all and “display more ignorance.”
I remember when Lady Diana died. A guy I was very close to said he did not know her and was not interested in knowing her because that knowledge would not take him to heaven!
I meditated on his words ,then I remembered how Archbishop Idahosa of blessed memory said some Christians are so “heavenly bound” that they have become of “no earthly relevance.”
Please don’t be like them. Don’t become so fixated on the course you studied, the work you do that you “shut out the whole world.” Try to know a little about every aspect of life. In Nigerian Literature, know Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe, Chimamanda.
Know about sports.
Don’t be like that person who said, “Oh, Stephen Keshi is dead! I loved his songs.”
Please update your knowledge so that no one accuses you of having oesophagus!
