BECAUSE HE LIVES

I was fascinated by the song the first day I heard it. And that fascination has not ended. I sang it in my church then and the mood reflected the message of hope in the song. I reproduce it here as I write this message:
Because He lives
I can face tomorrow
Because he Lives
All Fear Is Gone
Because I Know
Yes I know
He holds my future
My life is worth a-living
Just because he lives
I remembered this song again as I stood in the church during my father’s first year memorial service. I was so moved to sing the song and I was about to take permission from the pastor to do so.
Then……..
The pastor suddenly burst into song…And it was this age old song.
I was amazed.
It was clearly the song for the hour.
I once wrote a piece titled WAITING FOR TOMORROW where I talked about the uncertainty of tomorrow. Some call it The Unknown Tomorrow. Others like the Ibos talk of the Pregnant Tomorrow. Yes, tomorrow is shrouded in mystery. But we have an assurance in God.
Because he lives, we can face tomorrow. And as I look beyond my tears. As I see a beautiful tomorrow beckon at me in the wake of the loss of my father, I can only sing the lyrics of the song and hope for great things in a NEW TOMORROW.
